Blog Post – If not Chanhassen Martial Arts, then whom?

Every so often the question comes up, "What qualifies your place versus other gyms, dojos, & schools in town?" To that, we answer; we are all here to share the knowledge and gifts we have been given, while we serve our communities.

Chanhassen Martial Arts (ATA) is known for serving like-minded families and individuals driven by strong character traits and values, and want to improve their lives physically, mentally or emotionally. Not to mention walk confidently along their journey to personal development through martial arts training. We also focus on fostering a positive environment and working to build a "Growth Mindset" that equips our members with tools to succeed on and off the training floor.

Our school is not ideal for individuals looking to get into MMA or dream of being in the UFC. Though Mixed Martial Arts is an incredibly popular sport on the rise, and its athletes are in peak physical condition. However, the sport itself doesn't have a main focus in alignment with the tenets and values of more traditional arts such and Tae Kwon Do, Karate and Kung Fu, etc. offering such life-skills such as confidence, self-esteem, integrity, and discipline.

Though our academy does offer programs such as ATA Tigers (ages 4-6), Martial Arts for kids, teens & adults, fitness kickboxing and personal training - we may not always meet your needs, so we've put together a list of Martial Arts Academies in our area we do recommend when you consider enrolling yourself or children.

National Karate - Shorewood location (Highway 7 & 41)

National Karate is a Pillar in the Minnesota Martial Arts community as well as the Midwest. The Worrley family has built a legacy of creating champions in and out of the ring.

Mr. Ron Tobin at the Shorewood location is known to be an experienced and knowledgeable instructor in traditional martial arts and great at working with kids. Many families we meet with who "do their homework" on enrolling in martial arts always have very positive things to say about him and the school he operates.

Gorilla Combat Sports - Eden Prairie

Caleb Trevino is one of the most experienced technicians and coaches in his field. His gym offers a variety of different disciplines and classes for various age groups. This is a great place to explore a variety of classes and styles of martial arts. This is a place where you can expect to train with champions and beginners alike.

The Academy - Eden Prairie

With a newer location in the S.W. metro area, The Academy offers traditional and modern Martial Arts such as for multiple age groups in Taekwondo, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and more. This would be a great place to train if you are looking to get into mixed martial arts.

To wrap up this entry, many of my colleagues and small business owners may be wondering why I would post something like this in the first place, but the answer is simple. Everyone will benefit from martial arts, physically, mentally or emotionally, but at - we know we're not right for everyone. In fact, we hope this blog post inspires one of two things, gets people to take action and find the training center that allows them to change their life, or better yet, guides them to a place where they can inspire and change the life of someone else!

All the best,

Ken Hoops
